Oasis Casino Classic White Tee

Inaugurated in September 1998, the $50million Oasis Casino was one of the biggest investment projects in the West Bank after the signing of the Oslo Accords between the PLO and Israel five years earlier. The casino was part of a broader effort to develop tourism and leisure in the region, reflecting a period of optimism about economic growth and international engagement; it employed more than 1,000 people and attracted thousands of Israelis every day. The Oasis featured 35 roulette and blackjack tables and 220 slot machines and was managed by Casinos Austria, which had planned to expand the casino within two years into a 150-million-dollar resort including three hotels, restaurants, swimming pools, tennis courts and a golf course. In two years, The Oasis Casino in Jericho would close shortly after the start of the Second Intifada in September 2000.
